Forget-Me-Not hub's Approach

We bring together the non medical, evidence based therapies under one roof:

  • Reality Orientation

  • Reminiscence Therapy

  • Cognitive Rehab

  • Validation Therapy

  • Multi Sensory Stimulation

Our approach to offering CST is rooted in kindness, validation, positivity, optimism and fun. Each session will be  interesting, fun and engrossing.

For continuity, comfort and familiarity, each time a group meets, somethings will stay the same:

  • faces

  • refreshments

  • setting

  • greeting music

  • & format

but -

for interest, some things will be different:

  • theme

  • artefacts

  • sensory stimulus

  • activities [*]

[*To inspire beneficiaries to share their thoughts, opinions and feelings around the themes, activities will differ - unless popular and relevant to the week - we can adapt that to meet the wishes and needs of each group]

Activities may include:

  • word or physical games

  • quizzes (non factual)

  • challenges - timed or otherwise

  • discussions around artefacts and personal connections to themes

  • singing

  • chatting

  • debating

  • laughing

Everyone's contributions will be heard & valued when offered, gently &  respectfully encouraged if not offered - connecting via engagement  is the key.

Feel heard,

feel accomplished, live well.

Multi-Sensory Sessions
~
the reasons...

The world is experienced via emotions, sight, sound, touch, taste and smell - so are our memories. We meet everyone in their own reality, using sensory prompts and stimuli to tap into comforting long term memory recollection and sharing.

We then reorientate the group by exploring links to the current day relevant to the theme.

Present day relevance is also explore via current news articles, focussing on the positive stories linked to our theme with an aim to foster the positive mindset we wish to encourage.
